Throwback Thursday – Journal Quilts Week 3

For Throwback Thursday this week, we’re going back to the third week of my journal quilting project, June 9 – 15, 2011. This particular journal quilt is one that I could easily have made this week in 2015.  In 2011, My DH and I visited our favorite tea shop, Harney & Sons Teas in Millerton, New York. If you ever find yourself in that part of the world, I recommend a stop. Millerton is a nice town with a great bookstore (Oblong Books & Music) and the Harney shop is worth the trip alone.  Grandson Alex Harney runs the cafe, where you can get the best onion soup that I have had outside of Paris.  The shop also includes a wonderful boutique and the tasting room where you can sip any of the teas that the Harneys sell. My DH and I were there again last Friday to have lunch and stock up on teas. Our supplies had gotten dangerously low and though Harneys ships, we wouldn’t have been able to eat in the cafe if we’d ordered online. I used fusible applique to replicate the tea pot on the sign outside the shop on this journal quilt.
