Last week, I presented at the New England Quilt Museum‘s Meet the Teachers Day, but I was also there wearing my second hat as part of the programming committee for my guild (the Rising Star Quilters). I talked with a few other program chairs about the challenges we face filling workshops. Thinking about that challenge on the way home, I considered the possibility of having a workshop as a lecture during a regularly- scheduled guild meeting. So, I pulled from my popular Creative Play™ Workshop and created a new 1-hour offering that is part lecture and part workshop.
In the lecture portion of the hour, I will discuss my own creativity journey and what I have learned about creativity over the years. Then, we will do a fun and easy Creative Play™ exercise as a group to help get the creative juices flowing. We’ll then work through a design exercise together so that participants will have a design tool for their tool belt that can help them design and create their own quilts and then wrap up discussing strategies for beginning a creative play practice at home.
