I’ve finally gotten back to work on my Arabesque Series and have spent the past few months doing something really unusual for me – hand applique. I found a photo of a tile from the 15th century, copied the motifs from it, and have been appliqueing bit by bit for the last few months. I’m nearly done with the central medallion so the next step will be adding some pieced navy and teal blocks around the perimeter of the appliqued section. I’m really pleasantly surprised (flabbergasted, actually) with how the applique has turned out, but I am looking forward to getting back to my comfort zone with some piecing.
