Six weeks ago when it looked like there would be no camp this summer, I started planning art activities and buying supplies for “Mom Camp” to keep my eight year old busy. I placed a big order with Dharma Trading Company that included a marbling kit because, yes, it was something I always wanted to try. Well, we lucked out on camp, but still got to pull our the kit and play around this weekend.
My daughter LOVED our play so much that she cleaned out her playhouse and washed the chalkboard in order to create a gallery to hang our artwork. I loved it too (and kept on painting while she was in the playhouse). I know that I have said this a lot, but there’s nothing like playing like a kid to get your creative juices flowing. In this incredibly stressful time when creating may be hard, playing just for the fun of it may be exactly what we all need. Let’s Play!
